October 29,1931 - November 3, 2023
Joe Rich, 92, of N. Miami Beach, Florida passed away peacefully in his home. He was a wonderful husband to his wife, Ann “Rusty” Rich, and a loving father to his four children. Joe leaves behind a legacy of compassion, generosity and service to others.
Joe Rich was foremost a businessman who started from scratch and had many companies in his lifetime, most notably being Union Complete Services, Inc. In Bonita Springs, FL and Union Air Conditioning, Inc. in Miami, FL. He started with a used truck and his knowledge of air-conditioning and refrigeration (which was new in the late 40s and 50s). The company grew and his projects included hotels, hospitals, restaurants, malls, airline terminals and even a marine attraction housing a huge killer whale. He learned to fly his own plane so that he and his subcontractors could reach a job meeting in another state in less time.
In addition to his wife, Ann, he is survived by his daughters Kathryn (Greg, deceased) Taggi, Marina Rich, and his sons Paul Rich and Joe Patrick Rich. Joe was a caring stepfather to Ann’s children Sharon (Charles) Wienbar, Clemens Saalfeld, and Susan (Michael) Legg. He also leaves behind 9 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild and 1 great grandchild-to-be.
Joe was pre-deceased by his parents Dollie and Arthur Rich, brothers Dave, Bruce, Theodore, and sister Rosemarie.
Joe was known for his courageous spirit, strong will and loyalty to family and friends. He enjoyed flying his plane, fishing, solving calculus problems for fun, reading biographies and experimenting with magnetism. He held several patents. His remarkable journey through life was a testament to his positive outlook and enthusiasm for learning which inspired those who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in peace.
No service per his wishes.
