Born on May 29, 1915 in Brooklyn, NY to John and Emma Murphy, the fifth of six siblings. Jack married the love of his life, the late Josephine Murphy, on January 8, 1949. They spent 54 years together raising their family, traveling and cherishing every moment. He was a loving father of two children, JoAnn (John) Sanchez of Stouffville, Ont., and John (Lynn) Murphy of Ft. Lauderdale, Florida. He was a very proud Pop Pop to 9 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
Jack was a retired fireman, serving both the New York and Florida Fire Dept. from 1939 until 1983. A hero to all who were lucky enough to know him, Jack was generous, loving and very funny. He was a kid at heart with a wonderful sense of humor and a quick wit. He was a proud Irishman, a devout Catholic and a beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, grandfather and great-grandfather. Pop will be missed dearly, but we know his Irish eyes are smiling down at us from heaven, where he is reunited with his dear Jo.
