

John Christopher O’Toole of Plantation, FL passed away peacefully at home on May 10, 2023 with his wife and daughters by his side. He was 88 years old. John was born in New York City and grew up in the Bronx, NY he was the youngest of seven children. He graduated from Theodore Roosevelt High School in the Bronx in 1952. After graduating from high school, John enlisted in the Army and served active duty until 1956. He was awarded medals for Good Conduct and National Defense Service and was then honorably discharged. John married his loving wife, Patricia nearly 64 years ago on June 20, 1959, at St. Michael’s Church in Cranford NJ. They purchased a home in Old Bridge, NJ and raised a family. John enjoyed coaching his children’s softball and baseball teams. John was a hard worker and throughout his career held positions at US Steel, American Standard and Home Depot. He had a passion for designing custom kitchens and bathrooms. In 1995, John and his wife relocated to Plantation, FL. John was an active member of St. David’s Catholic Church in Davie, FL and was a long-standing Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. John is predeceased by his son, John Christopher O’Toole Jr., his parents Patrick and Mary O’Toole and his six siblings, Thomas, Helen, James, Martin, Lawrence, and Cathleen. John is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughters, Jean O’Toole (Nicole) of Falls Church, VA, Kathryn O’Toole (Marcos) of Coral Springs, FL, Trish O’Toole (Katie) of Plantation, FL, daughter-in-law Erin O’Toole-O’Rourke (Dennis) of Long Island, NY and his five grandchildren, Tommy Romero, Michael Romero, Sean O’Toole, Bridget O’Toole, and Ryan O’Toole. John loved watching baseball, reading, watching movies and listening to music. He also had a vivid imagination and was very creative, often drawing, painting and coloring in his spare time. He had a keen sense of humor and quick wit. He will be missed by all, especially his family. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at 10:00 AM at St. David Catholic Church, 3900 S. University Drive, Davie, FL 33328.John will be laid to rest, beside his son, at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Hawthorne, NY. In lieu of flowers, family members request donations be made on his behalf to the National Kidney Foundation.
