Joseph A. Massaro

Born to Theresa and Joseph Massaro on June 29, 1935, in New Haven, CT, Joe’s journey through life was marked by his unwavering devotion to family and friends. While he embraced Hollywood, FL, as his home since the 1970s, his heart forever remained tethered to New Haven, and he never passed up an opportunity to return. 

Joe’s life story is illuminated by his years of service as a proud marine from 1954 to 1962, a testament to his commitment to duty and honor. This commitment extended to all facets of his life, as he was a man who embraced integrity as both a virtue and a way of being. Following his service in the Marines, most of his career was spent in the automobile industry, leading him to own and operate Rallymotorcarz, giving him the nickname “Joe Rally.” 

Joe found immense happiness in the simple pleasures of life. He appreciated a quiet evening listening to jazz with a glass of red wine in hand. His love for horses ran deep, a passion that brought great joy throughout his life. Most of all, Joe loved spending time in the kitchen, cooking delicious meals for those he held dear. His bread pudding, meatballs, and New Haven-style pizza were more than dishes–they were expressions of love that brought comfort to everyone who indulged. 

Joe is survived by his cherished wife, Jill; daughter, Elia; son-in-law, Joe; and niece and nephew, Chris and Paula. He was a proud Poppy to his granddaughter, Gianna Jo. 

The echoes of Joe's laughter, his wisdom, and the warmth of his embrace will forever resonate in the hearts of all who crossed paths with him. As the final curtain falls on this chapter, we carry forward the lessons he imparted and the love he cultivated, ensuring that his legacy lives on.

The celebration of Joe’s life will take place on Thursday, September 7, at Fred Hunters (6301 Taft St, Hollywood, FL 33024) from 3-5 PM.
