It's taken a while for me to come to a place of comfort with Joe's death.  Our friendship was close when he lived in Charlottesville, Virginia, and through mutual friends who were better at staying in touch than me, Joe and I did know what was going on in each other's lives.  I regret that I cannot remember the last time we were together physically.  Last year when we exchanged emails around his birthday, Joe was pushing for a celebration of our 60th birthdays, an event that Harold and he and I had put off  due to coronavirus issues.  My heart aches when I think about our friend.  Yesterday afternoon, I finally had the strength to put Pyromania on the stereo and turn it up REALLY LOUD ~ every song hit home and made me recall another time, moments Joe and the boys got to share the love of rock and roll together.  Whether we were air guitaring to it or just sitting around having a beer, those times they were always great.  Listening to the album we were playing ad nauseam back in 1983 brought back so many wonderful memories and moments, and the tears did flow.  We'll never have another Joe Murphy - a unique, ridiculous, opinionated, forthright, enthusiastic guy, a man who never shied away from making himself look silly to garner a laugh.  The final, haunting seconds of 'Billy's Got a Gun' made me shake in my grief over this loss.  All I've got are his photographs, to paraphrase Def Leppard.  Joe was always in my camera lens and I'm very thankful for that.  Long live Rock&roll ~ and the fond memory of our too-tall buddy.

Joe was a great friend and colleague. We always traded real estate customer stories.  Went to concerts, dinners, sporting events having fun times. We always texted daily with debating sports. There is a huge void in my life without Joe to share these experiences. A great friend. A great realtor. A great human being loved by so many. He was my bud.  RIP my friend. 

I am so grateful for the wonderful conversations and our common interest in music and concerts, each time we would cross paths in the office it always sparked a chat and a smile. You will be missed and you are in my prayers each day dear friend. 

So fortunate to have known and worked with Joe for many years. His family should know that they raised an exemplary individual. Joe was someone whose word you could always count on. Kind, sweet, and a friend to all who knew him. We lost him far too soon, but we are better for having known him. Sincere condolences.

I am so incredibly saddened to learn of Joe’s passing.  Growing up knowing the Murphy family holds so many memories and love for me. My sincere condolences to Joe’s family and friends. Such a premature and shocking loss of a wonderful person.

Going through pictures this week reminded me that Joe was like family at our house. He was another little brother and was present at so many important family events. I hadn’t seen him in person for quite a long time, but felt connected through social media. He will be missed. 

There are no words, thoughts or actions that can capture the emptiness and sadness I feel; instead, I will cherish the memories whenever I speak or hear of Joe-of his goodness, his humility and his love of life; I will smile remembering our weekly “Name that Ringtone” game and music trivia, going to numerous concerts at Parker, Hard Rock et al; the annual Joe Murphy Super Bowl pool, numerous office parties, company galas and more.

Joe, you are legend, and while we will miss you , you will always be remembered with smiles and respect. Thank you for the honor of your professionalism, your integrity, and your friendship.

Uncle Joe, you were so loved and I will always miss you.  While the distance made seeing each other often hard, I will never forget the time I had with you.  Our yearly game of Stratego was a tradition, and I will always cherish never winning a game to you.  I am beyond happy that we got to see you when you were here just a few weeks ago and consider myself lucky that I got to hug you.  

We are thankful that Uncle Joe made it to our wedding three weeks ago.  I always liked my uncle's personality and will miss seeing him on his yearly visits to Wisconsin during Christmas.  I wish I could have one more time to talk with him and that my wife Lara would have gotten more time to get to know her new "uncle in-law" more.

Words cannot express how much I will miss Joe.  Joe was truly a remarkable person, and his presence brightened the lives of everyone fortunate enough to know him.  I worked with Joe for many years and I will always remember his warmth and the way he always brought a smile to our faces and a story to lighten the day. The world has lost a beautiful soul, and his absence will be felt deeply by all who had the privilege of sharing in his life.  Sending much love to Joe's family.
