Joset Dorismond

Joset was born in Port-au-Prince, Haiti to Gilbert Dorismond and Anna (Isidore) Dorismond on December 5th, 1940.  He graduated from Lycée Firmin with a Baccalaureate Degree. He obtained his law degree from the University of Haiti and practiced law until he emigrated to the United States in November of 1969. In August of 1971, he married  Marie Lucienne Zelin. He was also a licensed accountant from Craan Business School and worked as an account comptroller for 41 years at State Street Bank in Quincy, MA.   He was involved in  BROHACO (Brockton Haitian Community),  a non-profit organization that helped new Haitian immigrants adapt to American life. He also was a volunteer producer and cameraman for Tele-Lumiere, a local Brockton community cable television program, that still runs today. 

He was a man of deep faith who prayed daily for family and friends. His knowledge of psalms and other prayers helped many people through their personal tribulations. 

Joset Dorismond is preceded in death by his father Gilbert Dorismond, his mother Anna Dorismond, and older sister Martha Dorismond.   

Joset Dorismond is survived by his wife of 52 years, Marie L. Dorismond; daughters Natacha and Mariejo; granddaughters, Arielle and Anna; Siblings Jacqueline(Dorismond) Belizaire, Rene Dorismond and wife Marie Antoinette(Achille)Dorismond, Marie Yolande Dorismond, and Eliane (Dorismond) Clermont; sister-in-law Aster Tekeste Duprat, cousins: Max-Henri Guirand, Gina, Chantal, Yamiley, Wanda, Ghislaine, Yves and Donna Botro.  Many nieces and nephews: Jacques-Emmanuel Belizaire, Daphne Belizaire, Anna-Karine Belizaire, Pascale Dorismond, Nancy(Dorismond) Bonelli, goddaughter-Joanne(Dorismond) Gilchrist, Gilbert Dorismond, Frederique Clermont, Georges-Allain Clermont,  and Fabienne (Clermont)Anderson and their respective spouses.  Extended nieces and nephews: Roselys Carmelle Cassamajor, Nedjey Janvier and spouse Alix Janvier , Nerlande Toureau, Kathleen Jeannot and spouse Billy Jeannot, Abell Duprat, Daniel Duprat. Grandnephews and grandnieces: Benjamin Davis, Caitlin Davis, Roman Gilchrist, Xavier Gilchrist, Alejandro Clermont-Delgado, Amelie Clermont-Delgado, Gabriella Clermont, Adrienne Clermont, Cassandra Clermont, Dominick Anderson, Brielle Anderson, Christian Cassamajor, Alexander Janvier, Olivia Janvier, William Jeannot, and Elise Jeannot.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Church at 11:30 am on Friday, November 3rd, 2023, at 1400 South State Road 7, North Lauderdale, FL 33068.
