

Kathleen Althea Bennett, 96, of Miami, Florida (and formerly of St. Andrew, Jamaica, W.I.) passed away on March 24, 2018 at her home in Miami, Florida.
Funeral services were held at 11:00am on March 28, 2018, at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with the Reverend Luis Gonzalez officiating.
Kathleen was born in Westmoreland, Jamaica, to James and Agnes Hutchins on February 6, 1922. She attended Alpha Academy in Kingston, Jamaica. She attended Teachers College in Jamaica and later taught at her Alfa Mater. She married Victor Bennett in July 1941 in Kingston, Jamaica, and they had five daughters, Yvonne (d.2016), Joan (Brown), Jean, Norma (Taylor) and Annie (Hosey). Due to irreconcilable differences, Kathleen and Victor separated later in life, and she moved to New York City. There she worked for various organizations including the World Council of Churches from which she retired and maintained contact with several co-workers all over the world.
Kathleen is preceded in death by her Grandsons, Craig Hosey (December 28, 1997) and Steven Brown (October 31, 2008) and Daughter Yvonne Bennett (December 21, 2016).
She is survived by daughters Joan Brown (David), Jean, Norma Taylor (Bob) and Annie Hosey, and Grandson Gordon Brown (Gillian) and Great Grandsons Nathaniel Brown and Gabriel and Julius Joseph-Brown.
The family of Kathleen wishes to extend our sincere thanks to the Doctors and Nurses of Hollywood Memorial Hospital as well as the Hospice Staff who cared for our Mom in her final days.
