Kim was born in White Plains, NY in 1967, the oldest of three children born to Don and Ellen Stadtler. She has two younger brothers, DJ (born 14 months later) and James (born 6 years later). Kim lived in various states in New England (New York, Connecticut, and Massachusetts) until she moved to South Florida in 1977. She attended school locally at Tropical Elementary and Seminole Middle School. It was in middle school where she met her future husband, Jay Bria, though they went on to different high schools with Kim graduating from South Plantation High and Jay graduating from St. Thomas Aquinas High. Kim played softball in high school and was active in the youth group at Our Savior Lutheran Church where she was also confirmed (by Pastor Walter Volz).
She went on to earn a Bachelor’s of Science degree in Sociology from the University of Florida. Upon graduation, she moved temporarily to Northern Virginia where she worked for the Federal Government. However, she missed South Florida and moved back here after only a short time where she remained the rest of her life. Upon her return to South Florida, she worked first at American Express and then Humana Health Care. She reunited with and fell in love with Jay Bria in 1991 and they were married in 1993 at Our Savior Lutheran Church. She and Jay have two sons together – Griffin, born in 1997 (currently 22) and Riley, born in 2003 (currently 17).
Kim has worked for Amtrak for the last 6 years, working most recently as an onboard supervisor. She was loved and respected by her employees for her strong work ethic, her kind and generous demeanor, and her willingness to do anything to get the job done right.
Kim loved cruises, cruising to the Caribbean multiple times and to Alaska. She also was a frequent visitor to Disney World. Kim adored her dogs Norm, Sully and Sasha. She had an infectious laugh, a kind heart and sweet soul.
Kim is survived by her husband Jay Bria; sons Griffin & Riley; parents Ellen & Donald Stadtler; brothers James & DJ Stadtler. She is preceded in death by her grandparents Gretel “Oma” Garten & Hans “Opa” Garten; Walter “Grandpa” Stadtler & Marian “Grandma” Stadtler; aunt Marge “Auntie” Buschmeyer; and her niece Charlotte Stadtler.
