Lamercie Pelerin, known dearly as “Manmie Dada” by loved ones, passed away on January 19, 2022, in Lehigh Acres, FL at the age of 104 years old. Lamercie was born in Cavaillon, Haiti to Joseph Baptiste and Tercia Orion on September 18, 1917. Lamercie had six siblings and was the second oldest. Lamercie received her primary education in her hometown. At a young age, she lost her parents and was later adopted by Madame Armand Malbranche in Port-au-Prince, Haiti. It was through this family she met Anthony Pelerin and married him on September 4, 1943. Together they had five children: one boy and four girls. Manmie Dada lived as a homemaker devoting her time to raising her children, nephews, and nieces. After her children got older, she moved to New Rochelle, NY in 1976, and resided with her oldest daughter Gislene. After the passing of her husband on December 31, 1984, she put all her heart in her family.
In the late 1990s, she moved to Florida where she would spend time with her other three daughters. In January 2009, she permanently moved to Lehigh Acres to live with her second daughter Marie Christianne Pelerin. Her love for her native country never departed from her spirit; she would visit Haiti constantly, hoping one day she would retire there. The last time she visited Haiti was in July 2014. Her neighbors, both in Haiti and the United States, admired her hospitality and her kind spirit. She lived for loving, helping, and supporting people she met. She took much pride in cooking for her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was a proud devout Roman Catholic who took her religious devotions seriously. Lamercie will be remembered for her wonderful advice, wisdom, and gift to serve as a mediator.
