Leonard F. Johns, 75, of Sunrise, Florida, died Wednesday, March 7, 2012. He was born April 16, 1936 in South Bend, Indiana to Stanley and Hattie (Wozny) Janowiak. Leonard is survived by two sons, Bradley (Marcela) and Douglas, and three grandchildren, Bradley, Erick, and Hannah. He was preceded in passing by three brothers, Raymond, Richard, and Robert of South Bend.
Leonard graduated from Ball State University before serving as an educator from 1961 to 1981. He became business department chairman at Martinsville and Washington high schools in South Bend. In Ft. Lauderdale he was a guidance counselor at Stranahan and Nova high schools and guidance director at Piper. Leonard also worked as a letter carrier before retiring from the post office in 1998.
A Memorial Mass will be held Saturday, March 10th, at 1:00 PM at St. Gregory's Church in Plantation, Florida. Entombment will take place at Our Lady Queen of Heaven Catholic Cemetery.
