

Lucy was born in Polillo, Quezon, Philippines to the late Leon and Gertrudes Mopera Hernandez on April 30, 1938. She was the second youngest of their seven children. After earning her bachelor's degree, she immigrated to the United States, where she met and married U.S. Coastguardsman, Clark Devera Asuncion. Their married life was largely spent in Miami, where they built a home and raised their two children. Lucy spent 33 years of her
career as a medical technologist at Aventura Hospital, touching many lives along the way. She moved to West Palm Beach as a widow in 2005 and worshipped at the Palms West Seventh-day Adventist Church, where she cherished the fellowship of her church family. Lucy also enjoyed traveling, attending parties, karaoke and community theater. Her passion for Scrabble led her to establish a Scrabble club where she enjoyed the game with her friends. She eventually married her long-time companion, Ray, who was by her side at the time of her passing. Lucy is survived by her spouse, Montgomery "Ray" Rahmeyer; daughter, Arlene Mendoza (Marco); son, Nedwin Asuncion (Francine); sister, Eden Juntereal; grandchildren, Adrianna Gaines, Cassandra Mendoza, Brielle Asuncion, Zachary Mendoza, and Jaden Asuncion; great-grandchildren, Christopher Gaines and Angel Brown; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
