Magella Louis-Charles, also known as Ann-Marie Hilton, born November 05, 1928 in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, passed away January 05, 2019, surrounded by family. Magella, was the daughter of Fannie Louis Charles-Hilton and Lucien Hilton and the last of three siblings who were, Lemon Hilton and Gerard Hilton. Magella Louis-Charles migrated to the United States of America in the month of December 1964. In just six short years, through hard work and perseverance our beloved Magella was able to secure residence for all her children in the United States.
Our beloved lady Magella was ahead of her time and a true visionary, she worked two jobs as a nurse's aide to sponsor extended family members and friends to America. She invested in New York real-estate and she was a philanthropist, donating money and goods for the people of Haiti. Magella was known as a God-loving woman of very few words. She spoke softly but as her grandchildren can attest to, she carried a big stick.
Here are a few things you probably never knew about Magella Louis-Charles,
1. Her favorite color was red.
2. She was a connoisseur of Cinzano and Manischewitz
3. She once put a man in his place for criticizing her English by going down the list of accomplishments by her children. The man quickly settled himself.
4. She loved gardening. Her favorite flower to plant were lilies.
5. Her favorite saying was "If you're going to do something, do it the right way".
6. She enjoyed taking her grandchildren to the local flea market - Ti Mache
Magella Louis-Charles is survived by her seven children Marie 'Rica' Pericles, Harold Louissaint and Marie Eliane Louissaint (Spouse), Marie Ivana 'Nonoche' Augustin, Jean Paul Louissaint and Joselyne Louissaint (Spouse), Dimitri Hilton, Patrick Hilton and Rossette Hilton (Spouse), Michel Sacha Vington, her nephew Roberson Hilton, her niece Thalas Louissaint. her grandchildren Clifford Joseph, Claudy Augustine, Rachel Louissaint, Ivanovna 'Fannie' Augustin, Yvica Joseph-Mentor, Richard Louissaint, Jean Robert Louissaint, Stacey Clarke, Shawuki G. Hilton, Robeson Hilton, Nia Hilton, Alexander Tavaris Despinosse, Rachelle Pericles, Gadimi Hilton, Paul Jaqwan Louissaint and Kiami Louissaint, great-grandchildren, great-great grandchildren.
Magella Louis-Charles stood for respect, love and integrity. Here are a few of the proverbs that she taught us:
"La main droit ignore ce que donne la main gauche"
"Human beings are born with a good heart, but society turns them into an evil spirit"
The family of Magella Louis-Charles would like to thank Hospice Vitas Healthcare and the diligent care takers, Marie Mirtha Dumond and Reverend Lanaud Labranche who wonderfully supported our Magella.
