Margarita Cardenas

Margarita was born in New York, New York, to Georgina (née Gonzalez de las Pena) and José Roch on May 1, 1933. She went to school in Havana, Cuba, where she graduated from the University of Havana. She married the love of her life, Ruben Cardenas, on March 4, 1961, in Havana. After fleeing communism and arriving in the United States in 1970, she briefly lived in New Jersey before spending the next 45 years in the Miami area.

Margarita is preceded in death by her beloved husband Ruben, as well as her parents Georgina and Manuel Puignau, and her sister Georgina Alisse. 

Margarita is survived by her children Manuel Cardenas, Margarita Cardenas Drury and husband James Drury III, and Georgina Cardenas Pruszynski and husband Michael Pruszynski; her stepdaughter Mayra Cardenas and her family; her grandchildren Desiree, Lillian, and Solange Zerquera, Ricardo, Eric, Brian, Jennifer, and Gabriela Cardenas, and James Pruszynski, and  their spouses; and her great-grandchildren Kevin and Kassidy Cardenas, Lucia and Marley Cardenas, Derick Cardenas, and Juan Xavier Berumen Zerquera.

A Celebration of Life Gathering will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 12, 2022, at 6301 Taft St, Hollywood. Arrangements are by Fred Hunter Funeral Homes.
