
Marilyn grew up in Far Rockaway Queens and was educated in New York City Public School System. She was a graduate of W.H Maxwell High School.
She then successfully completed an accredited Radiologic Technology Program and became licensed as a radiology Technician.
Marilyn loved to have a good time. Always outgoing, she charmed everyone she met everywhere she went.
At a Christmas party in 1974, she met her future husband Mel Richards. The couple married August 16, 1975, and moved to Miami Florida in 1981.where they bought their first home in October of 1982.
Marilyn worked at the Miami Veterans Hospital. She retired there after working for the government for more than 30 years. During those years of meritorious service, she earned many awards for her dedication to her patients.
To know Marilyn was to love to her. She was loving and devoted. She often expressed a thankfulness for life and immense love for family.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her mother Mildred Lewis, her father Charles Lewis and her brother Ronald Lewis. Marilyn leaves to cherish her memory; her husband Mel Richards; her step daughter Tracey Richards-Brown; nephew Marc A. Lewis; nieces Sharonda Kim Tinsley, Emily Lewis and Lindsay Lewis; and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins, extended family and longtime friends. A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 17,2020, at 11:00 o’clock in the morning, at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, 217 Mt. Pisgah Church Drive, Orange Virginia
