Mario was born in Duverg, Dominican Republic, on February 26, 1931. He was the son of Esporminio Heredia and Mara Erodina Prez de Heredia. Mario graduated from the Universidad Autnoma de Santo Domingo. During his life Mario taught mathematics to students in high school and worked as a land surveyor and topographer. He also carried out various projects in his native Dominican Republic, building roads and bridges in addition to many family houses. He was an excellent draftsman and a fine engineer; he would not compromise safety and solid foundations, and was always committed to the goal of a well-finished job. Mario would frequently be found sketching the next house he would like to build.
His survivors include his companion Rosa, his children, Bernardo Antonio, Juan Rafael, Esteban, Elena, Jos, Aida Luca and Juan Bautista. Mario was blessed with many beloved grandchildren: Diana, Cynthia, Juan Carlos, Angie, Hctor, Carla, Mario, Andrew, Ruben, Irene (deceased), Miguel, Gabriela and Josiah.
