

Marjorie Hahn Pearl (Maggie) was born to Sigmund J. and Rhea Hahn on December 26, 1924 in Pittsburg, PA. She attended Winchester Thurston Prep School in Pittsburgh and was the first woman to graduate in Architecture from Carnegie Institute of Technology. She was married to David S. Pearl, Sr. in 1944 in Pittsburgh and has been a Fort Lauderdale resident since 1951. Her love for horses was manifested in her championship riding skills demonstrated in competition throughout the State of Florida in the 1950's and 60's. She was an artist in multiple mediums and an award winning flower arranger. She was a member of the Fort Lauderdale Garden Club. She was a lifetime member both of the State and National Federated Garden Clubs and was a Master Judge of the National Council of Garden Clubs and a Bromeliad Society International Judge. She created beautiful flower arrangements, held many awards for her work and judged throughout the United States and internationally. She was an active scuba diver and dived worldwide including dives with Cousteau off the "Calypso" where the now famous Palancar Reef is located. Her family remembers the wonderful grouper and lobster she would bring home after a day of spear fishing off Fort Lauderdale. She was a great cook and her grouper off the hibachi and lobster out of the broiler will never be forgotten. She is survived by her husband of 69 years, David S. Pearl, Sr., three sons, James (Debra), David II (Barbara) and Douglas (Susan) as well as eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren and sister, June Whitehill. Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 20, 2013 from 6 to 8 pm and a Funeral Service on Friday, June 21, 2013 at 11 am at Fred Hunter's Downtown Ft. Lauderdale Chapel, 718 S. Federal Highway, Ft.
