A Navy veteran, he had lived in South Florida for 44 years where he was a member of a Presbyterian church, the Toastmasters, the Miami Lakes Business Assn., and the Miami Lakes Investment Club.
He is survived by his son, Jeffrey J. Carswell; daughter, Suzanne Carswell Davila; grandchildren, Brian and Christopher Carswell and Michael and Kevin Davilla; and brothers, Rufus Carswell and Frederick Carswell.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Sue Cathey Carswell.
Mark E. Carswell was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He was a great example of love for his family, God, and this country. He was dedicated to his work, took on challenges, was concerned about others, and politics - but family was most important to him.
A graveside service will be at 12:00 noon Friday at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Veranita Alvord officiating.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Groce Funeral Home on Patton Avenue.
