

Mary Ellen was born on March 18th 1927 in Flatrock Ohio, one of eight children. The family moved to Bellevue, Ohio, where Mary attended and graduated from Bellvue High School in 1945. After graduation, Mary moved to Cleveland and worked for the Brotherhood of Railroad Trainmen Union in Downtown Cleveland. Mary and John met in 1955 at a party and were married April 28, 1956 at the Lyme Congregational Church with the reception following at her parents' home nearby, now known as the John Wright Mansion in Historic Lyme Village.
John and Mary moved to Florida in 1963 and had their house built in Hollywood Hills. Mary taught preschool at Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church for 20-plus very happy years with a wonderful group of women. Mary was a member of United Methodist Women and was president of her Sunday School class; she also taught Sunday School. Mary volunteered on various projects at the church throughout her life.
Mary loved watching sports, all kinds, especially football and golf. She looked forward to the Summer Olympics and especially professional tennis. She enjoyed reading, watching the Food Network and spending time with her family.
Mary is survived by her husband John, and her children, Kenneth Bowers of Hope Mills, North Carolina and Patricia Bowers Payne of Cooper City. Also by her grandchildren, Steven Kordzikowski of Cooper City and Ashley Kordzikowski of Fort Lauderdale; and a sister, Martha Robinson of Columbus, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on June 16th at 11 am at Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church, 400 North 35th Avenue, Hollywood Florida 33021.
The family requests in lieu of flowers, memorials be made to the Hollywood Hills United Methodist Pre School Scholarship Fund.
