

Monica was born on May 4, 1944 in Tableland, Trinidad & Tobago to Crawford Herrera (father) and Veronica “Vero” Ravello (mother). Growing up, Monica always had an intimate relationship with God, which followed her into adulthood. She spent countless years developing a love for Christ and becoming acquainted with her church leaders. Monica was consistently recognized as a leader in her community, as she faithfully mentored numerous students and children with words of wisdom and unconditional love. Monica was also lovingly nicknamed “The Roti Lady,” as people traveled across the island of St. Croix, U.S.V.I. to secure one of her infamous roti, which was always delivered with Monica’s infamous smile.
Percival McLeod (husband) met Monica McLeod on Forest Ave in Trinidad & Tobago. He became her life partner, and they were happily married for over 55 years, at the time of her passing.
Monica is survived by her husband, Percival McLeod; her 5 children (eldest to youngest): Richard McLeod, Lisa Beckford, Tricia Almestica, Vanessa McLeod, and Esther Simon; her 2 stepchildren: Donna Rechier and Junior McLeod; her 12 grandchildren (eldest to youngest): Monique Beckford, Alexis Beckford, Marco Rhymer, Kai Herelle, Marquis Rhymer, Armani McLeod, Aeneas McLeod, Leondre Nisbett, Jayden Nisbett, Neil Simon Jr., Jade Nisbett, and Nechelle Simon; her 3 great-grandchildren (eldest to youngest): Joshua McLeod, Malaysia Rhymer and Aeneas McLeod Jr.; her 10 siblings*: Pamela, Angela, Judie, Mona, Margret, Marcia, Christine, Matthew, Albert, and Julian; her 3 godchildren: Delon Spencer, Jonathan Stewart, and Medisa Rodney; and her 3 sons-in-law (eldest to youngest): Gilmore Beckford, Neil Simon, and Santos Almestica.
*The following 4 siblings are deceased: Jennifer, Frank, Yvonne, and Joseph.
Monica McLeod touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life. She will be forever missed and live on in our hearts.
