Polixema E. (Allison) Varona, of Pembroke Pines, Florida, formerly of Clewiston and South Bay, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on February 8, 2015 at Memorial Hospital ~ Miramar. She was 86 years of age.
Born in Nuevitas, Camaguey, Cuba on September 23, 1928, daughter of Guillermo Allison and Maria Luisa Rodriguez. In 1948, she married Domingo Varona and moved to Vertientes, Cuba. In 1956, she and her husband immigrated to New Orleans where they lived for several years.
As a homemaker, Mrs. Varona stayed home to take care of her children and family whom she loved so dearly. After raising her children, Polixema went to work as an assembler for Press Plastics, Burroughs Corporation, and UID Electronics. She retired about 20 years later to help raise her grandchildren.
Survived by her beloved children, Margaret Varona- Capote, Domingo V. Varona and Antonio S. Varona, three adored grandchildren, Pablo and Daniel Capote and William Varona, loving sister, Ana Lacaba. Her husband of 62 years, Domingo Varona died in 2010.
Religious Catholic Service will be held on Wednesday, February 18th at 2:00 P.M. in the Liberty Chapel, located on the grounds of Hollywood Memorial Garden Cemetery ~ West (directly across from Fred Hunters Funeral Home, 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend.
