

Robert Lonzo Ford of Plantation, FL died Wednesday morning October 16th, 2019 at the Bruce W. Carter VA Medical Center in Miami, FL. Robert graduated from Brownsville High School in Brownsville, TX in 1966. After high school he went to serve his country in the US Army and was a veteran of the Vietnam War. He later went on to graduate from East Tennessee State University with a degree in business. Robert worked in the airline industry for 40 plus years and retired from United Airlines in 2001.Robert was a dedicated father who enjoyed coaching his kids little league teams, and always attending his children's sporting events- no matter how far he had to travel. Robert loved being on the golf course and played as often as he could. Robert was an avid animal lover, where those that loved him called the animal whisperer. In turn, he passed his love of animals on to his children and grandchildren. Over the years, his home was full of cats, dogs, rabbits, and even hamsters.Robert is survived by his wife of 49 years, Doris Ford; sons Robert Ford and Christopher Todd Ford; daughter Kim Bayne; grandchildren Zachary, Devyn, Jake, Callie, and Jack; and great granddaughter Gisele. He is also survived by all the extended family and many friends of his children who knew him as Papa Ford. He was a loving man who kept his house open to everyone, and always welcomed people with open arms. Robert was loved and admired by everyone who met him- he will be truly missed.
