Bob was adopted at birth by Leonard and Cecelia Svajda, who also adopted four other children. Bob attended Oak Park Elementary, Driscoll Jr. High, College Academy and graduated from Roy Miller High School.
Bob leaves behind his soul mate, Brenda, daughter Linsey , sons Robert (Bo ) and Adam and grandson T.J. . Sisters Teresa Svajda, Kathy (Robert) Dunn, brothers James Svajda and Thomas ( Anita ) Svajda, numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, many who Bob thought as family.
Bob worked in the business that supplies parts and machinery that make vertical blinds.
Bob had a God given talent for sales and could sell anything to anyone.
Bob's three passions in life were his family, cooking and fishing, if he could combine them, then he was in heaven. It brought him such happiness that all three children followed in his footsteps, loving the same things so close o his heart. Fishing with his kids was heaven on earth to Bob, so he lived out a lot of his dreams here on earth before he died, not many people can say that. When T.J. came along, he was on cloud nine; he was pawpaw and had a new "little buddy" to teach all the fishing secrets too. He loved weekends when the kids would come over and they'd go fishing, throw something on the grill and just chill. Bob loved to cook and we know, he loved to eat. He could and would try anything at least once. While on a fishing trip once, he came across a stingray that had washed up on the beach, he looked at it, picked it up, smelled it, smiled and said, "it doesn't stink, I just found dinner". So he did indeed grill that stingray and sense no one got sick, guess he was right.
Bob was a handful from the very beginning, most of these incidents taking place while on family vacations. When Bob was just a very young boy, him and his sister, Teresa were over looking the edge of a cliff. Well, Bob decides that throwing rocks seemed like it would be a fun idea, so he grabbed a handful and threw them and hit Teresa on the head, knocking her forward down the cliff. If dad wouldn't have been there, well we would have been less one child the rest of the trip. On another vacation, while at the zoo, Bob volunteered at the snake exhibit. Yes, our parents were outraged. Well Bob goes up there on stage, all smiles and waving to the crowd and the trainer asks where he's from and he says" Texas", and adds "and I ain't scared of snakes". Well that gets a big laugh and the trainer proceeds to place a huge Boa around Bobs neck and tells him to just stand still. Bob does for a few minutes, then the snake does what's in his nature, and starts to wrap him self around Bob. Well Bob starts to freak and is pulling on the trainers sleeve "mister, um...mister". And the trainer, not looking at him, of course says...." Now little Bobby from Texas, what's the matter." But continues to talk about the snake and entertain the audience, Bob continues to grab his sleeve and then the audience starts to gasp, finally getting the trainers attention. Once the trainer turns, he sees that the snake has wrapped itself around Bob and is constricting its grip on him, well all panic broke loose then, and Bob is rushed off the stage and checked out. That was the talk of the entire trip and summer, how Bob was almost strangled by that snake. Another trip Bob was protesting our dad stopping at a diner called "Sambo's" , so he decided to eat their Chili Bean Melt for every meal. That's right, breakfast, lunch and dinner. Boy did the car start the smell after the third day, we were all begging dad to please eat somewhere else. Then there was his prank of "mooning" dad patients from his bedroom window. Stealing a skull from the science lab at school. I'm sure there are many many more, but space is limited.
Bob had a big heart for family and friends and would do anything for either of them. Bob never meet a stranger, everyone was a friend. I will miss picking up the phone and hearing " hi ya baby doll" , till we meet again, Kathy
