Combs, Ruth Edith (Anderson), Pembroke Pines, FL, passed away on August 29, 2009, at the age of 85. She was born July 12, 1924, in Flushing, New York to Ralph and Hilda (Hartmann) Anderson. She married William Walter Combs on January 25, 1947, and with him became a world traveler and supporter of many missionaries. Ruth was a devoted member of Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church since 1964. She was active in the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class, Senior Ministry and Bible Study. She is preceded in death by her parents; sister, Doris Anderson Gettys; mother-in-law, Dicie Combs; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Carl and Helen Combs; and niece, Juanita (Combs) Ellis. She is survived by her husband, William (Bill) of 62 years; brother-in-law Guy Gettys, Sr.; nephew, Guy Gettys, Jr. (Jill); nieces, Dale Blodgett (Jim), Susan Harvey (Sid), Kay Lawing (Gerald and Carol Thaxton (Phil); 10 grandnephews; 9 grandnieces and many close family friends. She will be greatly missed by all her family and friends. A visitation will be held Saturday, September 5th, at 11 a.m. with a Funeral Service immediately following at 12 noon at the Hollywood Hills United Methodist Church, 400 N. 35th Avenue, Hollywood, FL 33021; 954-989-8304. Interment at Fred Hunter's Hollywood Memorial Gardens North, Hollywood, FL following church services.
