

Sandra Louise "Sandy" (Sands) McMann, 66, of Elko, Georgia formerly of Hollywood, Florida, went home peacefully to her heavenly father on May 27, 2018, surrounded by her loving family, following a 2 ½ year courageous battle with cancer.
Born in Bimini, Bahamas on April 19, 1952, daughter of William H. and Laurie (Roberts) Sands. Sandy spent the first part of her childhood years in Bimini. Sandy and her family moved to Texas and ultimately relocated to Hollywood, Florida. Sandy graduated from Hollywood Hills High School, class of 1971. She went to work at Memorial Hospital as an EKG Technician. She later worked as a private home health care provider before becoming a homemaker. Sandy's family moved to Louisiana and then to Clayton, Georgia. She has been a resdent of Elko, Georgia for the past ten years. Sandy was especially fond of nature and animals. She enjoyed gardening, music, dancing, crafting and the beach.
In addition to her beloved mother, Laurie Sands, Nanny is survived by her loving children, Jimmy (Tomra) McMann, Christopher (Tara) McMann, Stephanie (Jason) Cross, Brian (Missy) McMann and Kevin (Brandi Ames) McMann, her devoted brothers and sisters, Peggy Felthaus, Dolly (David) Sugerman, Telly Sands, Janie (Bill) Werne, Bill (Debbie) Sands and Lisa (Johnny) Sanchez, sister-in-law, Patricia (Jack) Galassini, brother-in-law, Michael McMann. Also survived by her adored 18 grandchildren, Kayla, Jimmy, Thomas, Hailey, Morgan, Ashton, Breanna, Bryson, Alyssa, Preston, Trinity, Gage, Kylie, McKinsey, Aubree, Morgan, Kadence and Colton, 3 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Nanny was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 47 years, James T. McMann, Jr; on November 12, 2017 and her father, Herbie Sands in 2000, her uncle Bruce Sands and grandson, Kyle McMann.
Three of Jim and Sandy's sons are veterans, two served in the United States Marine Corp. and their third son recently retired from the United States Navy after a 20 year career. Sandy's late husband Jim also served in the United States Navy.
Six weeks ago, Sandy, our Nanny, a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, daughter and sister returned home to Hollywood to be with her mother and sister's while she fought the end of a 2 ½ year battle against cancer.
Sandy will be deeply missed. Sandy's Celebration of Life Ceremony will take place on Saturday, June 2nd at 4:00pm. Family and friends will gather one hour prior to the service at 3:00 pm at Fred Hunters Hollywood Memorial Home located at 6301 Taft Street, Hollywood, Fl. Relatives and friends are kindly invited to attend. Interment will be private.
