Scott graduated with honors from Nova High School in 1984. He graduated from the University of Florida in August 1988 with a degree in Political Science--always a vocal, loyal, dedicated member of the Gator Nation.
He started working at Grand Prix Race-O-Rama in 1985 and soon became track manager.
In 1998 he began a 16-year career as a mail carrier for the US Postal Service, 15 years at the Hollywood Main Branch and one year at Atlantic Beach in Jacksonville, FL.
Scott had an immense passion for music and was lead guitarist and chief songwriter in many local rock bands throughout his life.... Ruff N Ready, Shotgunn Wedding, BT69 just to name a few. He was often recognized using the alias Trazi Lynne.
Scott lived with juvenile diabetes ever since the age of 9. In 2010, he received a double organ transplant (kidney and pancreas) at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville that miraculously eliminated the diabetes from his body.
In the spring of 2013, Scott and Lynn relocated to Jacksonville, Florida in order to be closer to his life-saving transplant team. Shortly after this move, he was diagnosed with squamous cell carcinoma on his face and neck that soon metastasized into his lungs. Scott was a brave, hard-working, courageous fighter who, although had a fierce determination to succeed, lost his battle with cancer on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 2:08pm.
Scott is survived by his wife Lynn Athens Wilson, his parents Jon and Linda Wilson, his brother Jon Todd, his sister Michelle Lunn, and numerous family members from Kentucky, North Carolina, Ohio, Texas and South Florida.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Scott's honor to Mayo Clinic, Jacksonville, Florida; The Juvenile Diabetes Association; Donate Life Florida, and/or The American Cancer Society.
