Stephanie Abidor Francis, died on January 21, 2021 at only 62 years old. A proud New Yorker,Stephanie raised her daughters in Brooklyn until the three of them moved to Florida in 1994,but only after her Rangers won the Stanley Cup. Stephanie spent the last 8 years living withher daughter Rachel and her family in Plantation, Florida while always working on forgiving daughterBonnie for moving to West Chester, Pennsylvania. Nothing made her prouder than her twoother names: Mommy and Bubster.
Stephanie left behind a family that will miss her eternally: daughter Rachel, son-in-law Tony, and their children Madison, Brynn, Paige, and Michael; daughter Bonnie, son-in-law Jeremy, and their pup Mac; brother Mitchell, his wife Joan, and son Pascal; sister Fran, her husbandRay, their daughters Leslie and Stacy, and their granddaughter Sydney. Stephanie waspreceded in death by her parents Marty and Sylvia Abidor and her puppies Jesse and Shayna.
Stephanie’s daughters most favorite childhood memories were when the three of them curled upon Stephanie’s bed with microwave popcorn watching movies. Stephanie carried on thistradition with her grandchildren with endless Disney movie marathons. When asked what theywill remember about their mom/Bubster, Stephanie’s family had a great list of things theywanted to share: Bubster’s tea, snacks we weren’t supposed to eat, countless hours reading,Bubster’s seafood salad, collecting anything and everything, Junior Mints, word searches, judging people on House Hunter’s for their dumb decisions, Dim Sum, Francis the Lady Bug,Thanksgiving!, singing along to Joyful Noise, Les Miserables, Garth Brooks, cream cheese andgrape jelly sandwiches, never making fun of Madison for loving One Direction (how’s Harry?),baking Yaya’s rolls, her magic pillow, jokes only they would understand, “Where you lead, I willfollow”, card games, properly cooked eggs, shopping hauls after a whole day out of the house, tapping on our plates when we weren’t focused on eating (we’ll miss it even though we hated it),someone who stood up for us always.
If you wanted to sum her up in a few words, perhaps Stephanie’s grandson Michael, 5 years old(almost 6!) said it perfectly: “She is just fun and the best Bubster.”
Due to COVID and distance of many who loved her, Stephanie’s family opted not to have aformal service and will instead choose special moments throughout the rest of their lives tohonor Stephanie. For those who want to help honor her, Stephanie’s family has asked thatdonations be made to Cleveland Clinic in Weston, Florida as they truly believe the care shereceived there was the reason they had time to say important things, chat about the silly stuff, and get many opportunities to say “I love you.” https://give.ccf.org/fundraiser/3105529
