

Thalia was born in Prosilion, Lakonia, Greece to Stelios Stratigakos and Eleni Makrodimitris on November 27, 1925. She was one of 8 children. She was raised in Athens, Greece where she later met her husband, George Bonos. Thalia and George later emigrated to Toronto, Canada and were married in 1959. They had two children Tony and Helen.
Family and business opportunities brought the couple and their children to America. After moving to America, they opened several businesses including a motel on Hollywood beach, and a restaurant in Miami. As a young girl, Thalia had a passion for sewing and taught herself how to be a seamstress. She was extremely talented, and was able to create clothing from pictures in magazines. She continued being a seamstress throughout her life.
Thalia embraced living in Canada and America, and loved the opportunities that came with it. She was self-reliant. She was extremely intelligent with a philosophical mind. She also was a voracious reader. Thalia was very charitable and gave to various charities. She opened her house to family and friends blessing people with her extraordinary kindness and loving spirit. She was also an exceptional homemaker and loved to cook. She had a sweet smile and kind words to anyone that she met.
Thalia was a woman of faith. She and George attended church regularly. They were members of the Greek Orthodox Church of the Annunciation in North Miami for over 40 years.
Thalia was a role model to her children. She was a pillar of strength in her community, to her friends and family that were blessed to know her.
Thalia is survived by her son, Tony, and daughter Helen Bonos-Montoya, and son-in-law Patrick Montoya. She is also survived by sister Matina, and brother’s Louis, Steve and Frank. She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
