

Virginia was born March 6th 1925, to Clyde Hotalen and Marian Cantrell in Chattanooga Tennessee She graduated from Central High school Chattanooga Tennessee in 1943 with honors.
Virginia married Thomas B Costello, a local Chattanoogan on June 18th, 1944 in Walla Walla Washington, where he was stationed in the military at the time. After which time she spent her life on the move, in various parts of the world. While being a military spouse with her husband in the Air Force for 20+ years, she used the constant change as an opportunity to explore the world around her; they were stationed and lived in various places around the world. Retiring in 1963 from the Air Force and moving back to Homestead, Florida; where they had purchased a home in the early 1950s and belonged to Sacred Heart church in Homestead, Florida. Together they raised four children Tommye Kay Serbesoff, Patrick Costello, Betsy Toler and Michael Costello.
Virginia and her husband, Tom were active in the United States Power Squadrons, Homestead Power Squadron in Homestead, Florida, Virginia & Tom Costello were avid boaters and fishermen most of their lives, and devoted hobbyists; She enjoyed Wood turning, ceramics, painting, orchids, teaching and many more.
She was preceded In death by her beloved husband, Tom Costello (Ret. Air Force), they were married 61 years until his passing in 2005. After which she moved to Davie, Florida to live with her daughter and family; Becoming a member of Saint David Catholic church. She spent time traveling in Florida to visit her other children and families. Virginia is survived by her 4 children, their spouses along with numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was always a gracious host and enjoyed spending time with family and friends. Their house always had an open door for anyone. To so many, Virginia was a loving, giving woman that has left a lasting impact on all the lives she touched. She will live on forever in our hearts as a wonderful Mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who have known and loved her. Christ was her priority.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at St. David Catholic Church in Davie, Florida at 10:am on Friday, January 27th, 2023.
Virginia will be laid to rest, joining her husband, at the South Florida National Cemetery in Palm Beach County 6501 State Rd 7, Lakeworth, Fl Friday, February 3rd, 2023 at 1:pm.
