

Wesley Bruce Brock passed away in his sleep August 17, 2017. Born in Omaha, Nebraska on July 6, 1932, Bruce was raised in Minneapolis, Minnesota and Denver, Colorado. He served in the United States Navy during the Korean war. Bruce was an active member in many groups, including the Masonic Lodge (Lodge 19 in Minneapolis), the Mahi Shrine of Miami, the Royal Order of the Jesters Miami (Court 88), the National Rifle Association (life member), the American Legion and the Florida Wildlife Federation. He was a founding member of the South Florida chapter of Safari Club International. Bruce contributed to Fort Lauderdale's business community for fifty years with McEwen's Helpy Selfy Laundry and Southern Auto Trim and Glass. He enjoyed international hunting and wildlife conservation, and the contacts and affiliations those experiences afforded him. He loved talking to people and sharing stories with each person he met.
Bruce is survived by his wife of 62 years, Donna Brock; his children--Karen Mize (Robert Mize), Cindy Hewlett (Christopher Hewlett), and Leslie Schweitzer (James Schweitzer); his grandchildren--Wesley Mize (Tess Mize), Amanda Leigan (Blake Leigan), Nicholas Mize (Kretta Mize), Justin Hewlett (Leeann Hewlett), Jennifer Hewlett, Rachel Schweitzer, and William Schweitzer; his great-grandchildren--Kara Hewlett and Lillian Mize; his sister, Beverly Cameron; and his brother, Alan Brock. He will be laid to rest in Minneapolis at a future date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be directed to Shriners Hospital for Children at www.shrinershospital.org. The family wishes to thank everyone for their friendship over the years.
