
Rosemary H. Panton, 66, of Anderson Dr., Homer, passed away on Friday, May 13, 2011 at University Hospital in Syracuse following a lengthy illness.
A lifelong area resident, Rosemary was born in Cortland on June 24, 1944, a daughter of Robert N. and Muriel E. Tobin Hollenbeck.
She graduated from Homer High School in 1962 and immediately began work with Smith Corona where she was employed there for almost 30 years. During this time she met her husband, Lee C. Panton, whom she married in 1964.
After Smith Corona, Rosemary worked as a cashier for 14 years at Tops Market, retiring in 2009.
Rosemary’s passions were her family, her dogs, and shopping. She also took great pride in her home and greatly enjoyed luncheons and spending time with her dear friends.
She was a longtime communicant of St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church in Homer.
In addition to her husband of 47 years, Lee C. Panton, she is survived by her two daughters, Renae L. (Nelson) Jeffrey of Marathon and Michelle A. (Timothy) Smith of Cortland; grandchildren, Lauren E. Smith, Jake Michael Jeffrey and Ryley Patrick Jeffrey; her father, Robert N. Hollenbeck of Homer; two sisters, Sharon Hollenbeck of Homer and Carolyn Henry of Cortland; brother, Richard Hollenbeck of Cortland; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Rosemary was predeceased by her mother, Muriel, in 2001, and her brother, Robert Hollenbeck, Jr. in 1990.
Calling hours will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Monday, May 16, 2011 at the Donald L. Barber Funeral Home, 5016 N. Main Street, Homer.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday in St. Margaret’s Roman Catholic Church, 14 Copeland Ave, Homer, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by the Rev. R. Daniel DeLorme.
