

Mary Gucciardo (nee Torcise) answered God’s peaceful call to be by his side on October 12, 2013 at the age of 93. Mary was born in Lawrence, MA on February 3, 1920 to Joseph and Domenica Torcise. She was the eldest of five siblings to Grace Carroll, Sam Torcise, Steve Torcise, and Joe Torcise. After moving to Florida City with her family at age 4, Mary graduated from Homestead High in 1939. She was happily married to her late husband, Anthony Gucciardo, for over 50 years. Together they were true entrepreneurs successfully owning the Palms Hotel and Coral Roc Motel in Florida City. She will be remembered as an avid traveler, gardener and family story teller. Mary enjoyed a long wonderful life touching the hearts of so many family and friends with her warmth and kindness.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mary was predeceased by her brothers, Sam Torcise and Joe Torcise. She leaves behind her sister Grace Carroll and Brother Steve Torcise, Sr. (Joyce), her sisters-in-law: Adell Torcise and Cordelia Torcise. Mary also leaves behind many beloved nieces and nephews who will miss her greatly. Mary’s family would like to especially thank the many caregivers at the Palace Gardens in Homestead for their loving and compassionate care.
Visitation will be held on Tuesday, October 15th from 6:30 - 8:30 pm at Branam Funeral Home, 809 North Krome Avenue, Homestead. A mass will be held on Wednesday, Oct. 16th at 11 am, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 106 SE 2nd Road, Homestead 33030. Entombment will follow at Woodlawn Park South Cemetery, 11655 SW 117th Avenue, Miami 33186.
