
Robert Lewis Barrett, 76 died Monday April 28. He was Born on May 10, 1937 in Cherryville, NC, to the late Lewis and Eva Barrett, the family moved to Homestead Fl.,in 1946.He was a member and a Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church. He graduated from South Dade High School class of 1955.He served the U.S. army from August 19,1955, thought May 1958, as a paratrooper with 101 Airborne Division Screaming Eagles at Fort Campbell KY. Also 187 Airborne Combat Team, Special Operations, Red Berets and Airborne Paymaster in Morocco, Algeria, Sinai and Seoul, Korea. He was on Army Reserve for 8 years, when he was call for active duty, during Cuba missile crisis. He also was a life time member of the VFW and American Legion. He owned Barrett Construction and was a certified contractor an site engineer. He worked in Alaska after the earthquake rebuilding villages on Kodiak Island. He also was a Building Director in Florida City for many years. A published author, he always wanted to be of service to others. He is survived by his wife of more than 57 years Polly, daughter Barbara and her husband Gary Rubens, granddaughter Helena and great-grandson Seth, brother Adkin (Tuck) Barrett and many aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Visitation will be held at Branam Funeral Home on Friday May 2, 2014, from 5-7 pm. Burial at Cherryville, NC.
