A.C. “Sonny” Young Jr. age 71 of Vestavia Hills, AL passed away on Sunday, Nov. 2, 2014. Sonny was born to Marguerite and Dr. Allen C. Young Sr. on Jan. 25, 1943 in Birmingham. He attended the University of Alabama where he was a member of the Alabama Golf Team. Sonny loved golf and served as the club pro at several country clubs including Westchester Country Club in Westchester, NY. Following his retirement as a golf pro Sonny joined his family business, ACYCO Inc. , he served as President and CEO. He was a member of Vestavia Hills Country Club.
Sonny was survived by his wife Linda R. Young, his brother Dr. Hugh H. Young and sister Cynthia Dianne Young, his step- children Kevin, Jeff and Wendy Green and one step- granddaughter Haleigh Green and one- step grandson Jason Green.
A Celebration of Life for Sonny will be Friday Nov. 7, 2014 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL followed by a memorial service at 2:00 PM at Valley Chapel.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests that donations be made to the Birmingham Humane Society, 300 Snow Drive, Birmingham, AL 35209.
