Allison Thompson Powell

Allison Layne “Alli” Thompson Powell, age 34, of Atlanta, Georgia, passed away March 23, 2021. She was born in Amarillo, Texas, on April 16, 1986, the youngest daughter of William Lloyd “Bill” Thompson, Jr. and Adrienne Bazar Thompson.

Allison graduated from Birmingham-Southern College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology, magna cum laude and Phi Beta Kappa. At BSC she was an active member of Alpha Omicron Pi Fraternity and many clubs and civic organizations. Allison went on to obtain a Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology from the University of Northern Illinois.

She was married to Patrick Snow Powell on July 16, 2016, in the chapel of Birmingham-Southern College where they first met.

She is preceded in death by her furbaby, Remy LeBeau; paternal grandparents, O’Neal and William Thompson; maternal grandparents, Helen and Philip Bazar; and brother-in-law, Hunter Powell.

Allison is survived by her loving husband, Patrick, of Atlanta and their furbabies, Cooper and Ellie; mother, Adrienne Thompson; father Bill Thompson; sister, Ashton Sartin; brothers-in-law, Hunter Sartin and Tyler Powell; sister-in law, Summer (John) Aldrich; mother-in-law, Lynda Powell; father-in-law, Virgil “Butch” Powell; niece, Graelyn Aldrich; nephew John Hunter Aldrich; aunt, Denise (Woody) Grayson; cousins, Allison (DJ) Hampton and Todd (Missy) Grayson.

Allison loved spending time with her family and friends, and had a passion for serving her community and pet rescue. In lieu of flowers, the family requests charitable donations be made to: Lifeline Animal Project, 3180 Presidential Drive, Atlanta, Georgia, 30340.

Visitation will be held on April 3, 2021 at 1:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, Alabama. A Celebration of Life will be held on April 3, 2021 at 3:00 PM at Ridout's Valley Chapel, 1800 Oxmoor Rd, Homewood, Alabama.
