Alma Rosella Brown Curtis, age 95, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2015. She was born in Siluria, Al on December 19, 1919 to the late Hiram Samuel Brown and Aby Howard Brown. On March 8, 1940, Alma married the “love of her life” John Henry Curtis and happily married for 52 years until his death in 1992. Alma was a member of Parkwood Church of God.
Alma was preceded in death by her husband; daughter: Gloria Ward, sisters: Vana Stout and Velma Garner; brother: Luther Brown and half-brothers: Washington Stone and Alec Stone.
Alma is survived by her daughters: Sue Jones and Shirley Curtis; her grandchildren: DeAnne (Jeff) Terrell, Lesley Jones, Lurie (Jay) Jackson, Steve (Susan) Ward and Paige Roy; her great grandchildren: Natalie (Neal) Martin, Nathan Terrell, Luke Jackson, Renee Roy, Blake Roy, Elizabeth Ward, Adam Vaughn (CeCe), Amanda (AJ) Howard and Luke Jackson. And a host of other family members.
The family will receive friends beginning at 10:30 a.m. with the funeral at 12 noon on Wednesday, September 16th at Cahaba Heights Baptist Church with the burial following in the adjoining cemetery.
