Late in the evening of August 3rd, 2023, Andrew Corbett Scott Jr. passed away at the age of 72. "Drew" Scott, loving husband of Mary Bernard Scott, son of Barbara Ann and Andrew Scott, died in the hospital after a short battle with cancer. He was a dear father and is survived by his children Corbett Scott (John Hinds) of New Orleans, LA, Teresa Roberts (Jeremy) of Madison, MS, and Bernard Scott (Lacey) living in Birmingham. He is also survived by his father, Andrew, and all four of his sisters, Barbara Sandner, Cynthia Horton, Lissy Frese, and Virginia Sandlin. He leaves behind four grandchildren: Frank and Harry Roberts (Madison, MS) and Drew (IV) and Mamie Scott (Birmingham, AL). Drew was a graduate of the University of Virginia and a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, and he never ceased pursuing knowledge. He split his time working as a financial advisor for Morgan Stanley and joyfully toiling at his camp house near Mantua, AL. Drew also cherished his time with the Nickle Nassau golf group at the Country Club of Birmingham.
Drew's faith in Jesus Christ was the most important thing in his life, closely followed by his family and friends. He doted on his grandchildren and loved nothing more than having them close. He was quick with a smile or a laugh and spread sunshine to everyone he encountered. His eyes always sparkled, and through them he shared his love of life, especially with his family and friends. Besides enjoying time with his family and tending to the land surrounding the camp house, the few remaining moments were spent doing carpentry, fishing, and of course turkey hunting. The turkeys in Greene County should enjoy a reprieve this coming Spring without Drew slipping through the woods. His kindness and generosity will be missed by all of those who were lucky enough to have Drew (Bop) in their lives.
Graveside Service at Mesopotamia Cemetery in Eutaw, Alabama, at 3 PM on Tuesday August 8, 2023. Memorial Service to be held Wednesday August 9, 2023, at Mountain Brook Community Church. Visitation to begin at 1 PM with Memorial Service at 2:30 PM.
The family would like to offer special thanks to Drew's caregivers: Linda Mitchell, Natasha Grimes, Greg Smith, and Dr. Jimmie Harvey for his invaluable advice. In lieu of flowers please send donations to one of Drew's passions: Living Water Community Transformation (www.livingwaterct.org), Mountain Brook Community Church (www.mbcc.us), or First Presbyterian Church (300 Main Street PO Box 131, Eutaw AL 35462).
