Carr, Barton Franklin, age 59, of Hoover, passed away on February 6, 2021. He is preceded in death by his son, Benjamin Henley Carr. Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 32 years, Lisa Taylor Carr, and his son, Samuel Graham (Courtney). Also survived by his mother-in-law, Ann Taylor; his parents, Benjamin Franklin and Nancy Brunson Carr; siblings Wesley, David (Debbie) and LeAnna (Dave) Huddleston; several nephews and nieces, Matt and Ben Carr, Sarah McNeill and Rachel Crowhurst, Logan and Bryce Carr, and Wyatt and Nancy Huddleston; as well as several great nieces and nephew.
Bart was born July 21, 1961, in Montgomery, Alabama. He graduated from Briarwood Christian School in 1979, and remained active with Briarwood serving several years on the Briarwood School Board. Bart went on to graduate from Auburn University with a degree in Finance. While attending Auburn, Bart was active in Phi Gamma Delta (Fiji) fraternity as well as the campus television production crew. Many friendships that Bart developed while at Briarwood and Auburn remain strong today. Upon his graduation he became Vice-President of Carr and Associates Engineers, as Manager of the Survey Division. Bart took over all operations of Carr and Associates as President in 2007. Through its almost 50 year history Carr and Associates has received numerous State and National Awards for their work.
Bart never met a stranger and always had time to share a funny story. Despite his busy life he always had time for friends and strangers alike, putting all others before himself. He was a devoted husband and father that adored his wife and sons beyond words. He was as proud of the accomplishments of his family and siblings as if they were his own. Bart was also a devoted Christian and raised his boys in his Christian faith. He enjoyed fishing and boating with his sons, playing golf with his sons and father, and attending all Auburn football games near and far. Uncle Bart was also known to tease and wrestle endlessly with his nephews and nieces. Bart’s larger than life personality will be missed by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
The family will receive visitors at Cathedral Church of the Advent on Thursday, February 11th from 12 noon with the service to follow at 1:00. All covid restrictions must be followed.
