Dr. Bruce Shelby Eich

Dr. Bruce Shelby Eich, loving, husband, father and grandfather, passed away on November 2, 2022, surrounded by his family. Dr. Eich was born in Clarksville, Tennessee on August 24, 1941. He attended Mountain Brook Elementary and Shades Valley High School. He earned degrees in chemistry and pharmacy at Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Dr. Eich put himself through medical school at Tulane University by working as a night pharmacist. He did his Ophthalmology Residency at Parkland Hospital in Dallas where he was a member of Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society. He was a lieutenant in the United States Public Health Service Commissioned Corps in Mobile and New Orleans. Dr. Eich was recently honored for his 48-year staff membership at Baptist Princeton Medical Center in the practice of Ophthalmology.

Dr. Eich is preceded in death by his father, Benjamin Jones Eich, his mother, Elizabeth Mitchell Shelby Eich, and his wife of 21 years, Ann Fogg Eich. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Phillips Eich, son Bruce Shelby Eich II, daughter Kelli Ann Eich Krause (Jason, Sr.), and son George Benjamin Eich; also, his grandchildren Ann Marie Eich, Jason Douglas Krause, Jr., and Bruce Shelby Eich III, and sister, Betty Ann Oliver (Kurt).

Visitation will be on Saturday, November 5, 2022 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, Alabama from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Funeral Service will be on Sunday, November 6, 2022 at 1:00 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood. Pastor Sharon Eich officiating.
