Loving Mother and Friend
Carolyn was born in New Merkle and lived her life of 83 years in Cahaba Heights. She left us to rejoin her brother, Ralph L. Richardson and her parents Jackson M. and Lena Mae Richardson in heaven on Sunday, March 30, 2014.
Carolyn graduated from Shades Cahaba High School and retired from the Woman’s Missionary Union. She was a member of
Theo Osborn #384 Chapter of Eastern Star and served as Grand Matron in the Cahaba Heights Chapter.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her brother, parents and her granddaughter Emma Norman. She is survived by her daughters Lea Sanders Norman (Lanny) and Karen Sanders Crawford (Rob); grandchildren: Angel Smelcer(fiancé Heath Whitten), Joe Smelcer (Bay) and Wil Norman. She is also survived by Joe and Bay’s daughter Catherine “Lanier” Smelcer, her only great grandchild, and by close friends and family.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, April 3, 2014 from 11:00 until 1:00 p.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL., with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery.
