

Charles Ray McAllister (Mac), age 90 of Birmingham, died on November 7, 2014. He was a native of Tuscaloosa and graduated from Tuscaloosa HS in 1941. He was employed at the City National Bank when Pearl Harbor was bombed and joined the U.S. Marines in Jan. 1942. He served two years in the Pacific with Headquarters Company, 1st Battalion, 9th Regiment, 3rd Division. After discharge, he attended the University of Alabama and was graduated in 1949. Mr. McAllister worked in the Accounting Department of GMAC until he retired in 1980. He was an active member of the Dotson Nelson Sunday School class at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. Mr. McAllister was preceded in death by his son, Robert McAllister. He is survived by his wife, Christine; sons, John, Harry (Cheryl); daughter, Marianne Montalbano (Dr. Michael); brother, Cecil B. McAllister; grandchildren, Tommy McAllister (Jessica), Robert McAllister (Megan), Lance Montalbano (Kristin), Shelly M. Statton (Nathan), Kelly M. Avigliano (Brett); and great grandchildren Kaleigh, Avery, Alexis and Emory Statton. Visitation will be from 1:00pm to 2:00pm on Monday, November 10, at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood with a funeral service to follow, Dr. Douglas Dortch, senior pastor of Mt. Brook Baptist Church, and Dr. Mile Montalbano of Ward,AR officiating. Memorial gifts may be made to the Missions Fund at Mountain Brook Baptist Church. -
