

Clifford Miller Saxon, age 97, passed away at his home on November 1, 2024. Born on February 8th, 1917 in Birmingham to Clifford E. and Erline, Cliff was an active member of his community and a beloved family member.
Cliff is preceded in death by his second wife, Mary Alice (d. 2021), first wife Pat (d.1990), and Mary Alice’s daughter, Jamie Booth. He is survived by Mary Alice’s daughter, Elizabeth (Steve) Calvert; son-in-law Mike Booth; grandchildren Rachel (Brian) Smith, Scott (Anna) Booth, Leah (Jeff) Svadlenak, David (Naomi) Booth, Madison (Cody) Schnetzler, Beck Calvert; and many great-grandchildren.
Cliff graduated from West End High School, and while attending Birmingham Southern College he was called to serve in the army during WWII. In the Army, he served in the Pacific as a Supply Officer in the 43 Engineer Construction Battalion. After discharge, he attended the University of Alabama Extension (UAB) in Birmingham. While attending school at night, he became employed by the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in Birmingham. Cliff graduated from LSU School of Banking of the South and later from the Birmingham School of Law. After his transfer to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta in Atlanta, GA, he served on the audit staff and later became a Certified Internal Auditor. After thirty years of service, he retired from the bank and returned to Birmingham.
During retirement, Cliff became a member of the Alabama Woodworkers Guild. Working with wood was his hobby for the remainder of his years. In retirement, he also loved to travel with his wife, Mary Alice. He was known for his bright mind, quick wit, attention to detail, and friendly demeanor.
Funeral Services will be held at Vestavia Hills Methodist Church on Nov 16th, 2024 at 1pm.
