

DeWayne Martin Elliott, 54 of Pelham, AL passed into the arms of God on September 18, 2015 at Shelby Baptist Medical Center surrounded by many of his loved ones. DeWayne lived in Alabama for 18 years. He was born in Springfield, TN and grew up in Greenwood, IN. He was an Eagle Scout, affiliated for many years with The Boys Scouts of America. DeWayne was a graduate of Ball State University. He enjoyed Auburn University football, fishing, hunting, and spending time on Lay Lake where he made friends he cherished dearly. He was a gentle, loving man who treated everyone with kindness and respect. DeWayne is survived by his wife Ellen Kelly Elliott, his mother Shirley Mitchell, his daughters Stefanie (Daniel) Bamberg and Stacy Horner, step-mother Joyce Elliott, step-sister Nancy Stewart, step-brother Tim (Sarah) Middleton, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. He was proceeded in death by his father Dan Elliott, his step-father Bob Mitchell, and his grandparents. Visitation for DeWayne will be Tuesday, September 22, 2015 from 10 am – 11:30 am at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood, AL. Funeral service will follow at 11:30 at Valley Chapel. Burial will be at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests to make donations to The Boy Scouts of America
