

He was born in Lorraine, Kansas, the son of Ezra Donald and Ruth Farlow Meacham.
Upon graduating high school, Don entered the United States Navy at the age of 17. He continued to serve in the Navy after World War II ended and earned his pilot's wings.
After an honorable discharge from the United States Navy, Don attended the University of Kansas where he obtained a degree in Accounting. He was a member of Delta Tau Delta fraternity while in college.
After graduation, Don took an accounting job in Olathe, Kansas, where he met and later married Maxine Louise Anderson. Together they and their infant son Tom lived in Olathe before moving to Guam.
Returning to the United States, the Meacham family eventually arrived in Birmingham where Don would spend the remainder of his life. He was the accountant for Read Steel Products and Krebs Engineering before retiring well into his 70s.
Don was preceded in death by his wife Maxine Meacham, son Thomas Meacham, wife Ann Prickett Meacham, brother Robert Meacham and sister Dorothy Read. He is survived by his son Jon and his wife Tammy of Homewood, sister Ruth Mary Mesler of Kansas City, Missouri, and Gerre Tweedy of Branson, Missouri.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, April 22, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood with visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. There will be a reception following the service at Ridout’s Valley Chapel.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Shades Valley Presbyterian Church.
