Edwin Howard Wood, Sr., age 91 of Homewood passed away December 25, 2015. Mr. Wood spent his childhood in West Blockton Alabama. After graduating high school he joined the Army Air Corp and served during WWII. After WWII Mr. Wood joined the Homewood Police Department and later became Chief of Police. He served the Homewood community for more than 30 years before retiring in 1976. After his retirement Mr. Wood enjoyed making ceramics with his wife Jimmie. Mr. Wood was a faithful member of the Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church. He is preceded in death by his wife, Jimmie Lou Parker Wood and his son Edwin Howard Wood, Jr. He is survived by his daughter, Beverly Ann Wood, granddaughters, Teri Wood Robinson (Bryan), Leslie Wood Trabert, great-grandchildren, Brent Robinson, Emily Robinson, and Zander Trabert.
Visitation for Mr. Wood will be Tuesday December 29, 2015 from 10-11 a.m. at Ridout’s Valley Chapel followed by funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Elmwood Cemetery. In lieu of flower family requests donations be made to Rocky Ridge Cumberland Presbyterian Church.
