

KNAPP, ELLEN CHAPMAN Ellen Chapman Knapp, a beautiful southern lady, passed away at Cullman on July 30, 2010. She was a long time resident of Southside, Mountain Brook and recently Cullman. Mrs. Knapp was born Nov. 1, 1924. She graduated from Lakeview Elementary School and Ramsey High School before attending the University of Alabama. She was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority. She then studied fashion design at Parson's School of Art, New York. She was devoted to her family and also enjoyed her memberships in Gaiety's Club, the Princess Sehoy DAR Chapter, the Mayflower Society, her garden and bridge clubs. The Knapps were early members of St. Luke's Episcopal Church and founding members of St. Peter's Anglican Church. In Cullman she became a joyful member of Grace Episcopal Church. She loved her country, family, and was especially delighted by little children. Her generous love of others was evident by her beautiful, friendly smile, kind words and gracious hospitality. She was preceded in death by her parents, Marion and Felix M. Chapman, a brother, Felix Chapman III, her grandson F. Clinton Frey, and her husband of 60 years, Joseph A. Knapp, Jr. Survivors include her daughters, Marion (Clint) Frey of Cullman, and Ginny (Gene)Perry of Dallas, grandchildren Stephen (Susan) Murphree, J. J. Murphree (fiancé Bridgette), Elizabeth Perry, Ross Perry, David Perry and great grandson, Max Perry Newhaus. Visitation will be Monday August 2, 2010 at 1:00 PM, service Monday at 2:00 at Ridout's Valley Chapel, Homewood, AL, Rev. Robert Blackwell officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations to Cullman Regional Medical Center Foundation, Grace Episcopal Church, Cullman or charity of your choice will be appreciated.
