Eugene Harris Johnson, Jr. died peacefully on June 21, 2019. Gene was born in Birmingham, AL on October 9, 1938. He graduated from Shades Valley High School in 1956 and was an Eagle Scout. He graduated from Vanderbilt University in 1960 in Civil Engineering and was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity. Gene was an officer in the U.S. Navy. He owned Gene Johnson Builders for many years. He was a lifelong Methodist. Mr. Johnson was preceded in death by his parents, Eugene Harris Johnson, Sr. and Knoxie Faulk Johnson, and his sister, Knoxye Johnson North. He is survived by his son, Eugene Michael Johnson, his sister Betty Johnson Allen (Dick), and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Fair Haven Fountain of Love Fund, 1424 Montclair Road, Birmingham, AL 35210. Arrangements by Ridout's Valley Chapel.
