

(Jiddy)
A life long resident of Homewood, Alabama passed from his earthly life on February 2 surrounded by his loving family.
Volunteering, he served his country in the United States Army during World War II in the Pacific Theatre.
He was a longtime member of Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church. He attended Mass daily while his health permitted. He was an Eucharistic Minister, Lector and Alter Server as well as a RCIA team member. He enjoyed singing in the choir and was a member of the Knights of Columbus.
He was a successful insurance agent for American National throughout his career of 31 years.
After retiring, his love for helping people in need and his spirit of giving back led him to many community services as a volunteer where he made cherished friendships.
He loved spending time with family and guided each member with faith, humility and deep devotion. He especially looked forward to family gatherings with his grand children and great grand children which all lovingly called " their Jiddy" a term of endearment of his Lebanese heritage. He was an avid Atlanta Braves and Alabama Crimson Tide fan. This football season was especially memorable as he cheered for the Tide to Roll each Saturday with his family.
He is preceded in death by his parents Ferris William Stephens and Taje Wehby Stephens. His beloved wife Cecilia Deep Stephens. His brothers Robert L. Stephens (Gloria) and Dr. William J. Stephens. Sisters, Catherine, Margaret, Selema, and Lorraine Stephens. His brother- in-law Farris A. Deep (Ruby) from Nashville, TN.
He is survived by his 6 children. Catherine Stewart, Floyd William Stephens (Suzy), Gregory Floyd Stephens (Debbie), Marian Heatherly (David), Daniel Floyd Stephens and Rita Callaway (James). He is also survived by 8 grandchildren Lisa Palmedo (Sean), Stephanie Young (Mark), Kristin Ezekiel (Brandon), Jennifer Campbell (Brian), Gregory Floyd Stephens, Jr., Cheryl Stewart, Amy Heatherly Edison and Emily Mason and 11 great grand children. Ian and Mia Palmedo, Kayla, Katherine and Zachary Young, Sara and Andrew Ezekiel, Elias, Cecilia and Camille Campbell and Lauryn Edison. He is also survived by his sister-in-law Mildred Ritchey Stephens of Homewood and a brother- in-law Raymond A. Deep and wife Sylvia of Huntsville as well as many cousins nieces, nephews.
The family would like to express our appreciation to the doctors and nurses at Brookwood Hospital for their care and kindness. Also, a special thanks to Helping Hand and his caregivers.
