

WOOD, EUNICE FRANCES (Jones-Moreland), 89, of Birmingham passed away October 4, 2013. Born January 29, 1924 the daughter of the late Grover Cleveland Jones and the late Bertha Genevieve Miko Jones, she attended Woodlawn High School. After graduation, she attended nursing school at South Highland Infirmary until she married the late William Barnett Moreland. She began what would be her lifelong career with the Southern Railway and held numerous positions at the beautiful Birmingham Terminal Train station. Affectionately known as "Boots" by all of her friends and coworkers, she was an active member of the National Association of Railway Business Women where she held several offices over the years. She retired from the Southern Railroad in the late eighties after 41 years of service. She enjoyed travel throughout her life and was able to explore the United States, Hawaii, Mexico and Europe with friends and family.
Ms. Wood is survived by her daughter Sandra Moreland Barefield; her grandson, Brian Michael Barefield; her sister-in-law, Kathryn Holman Jones and her nephew, Donald Stephen Jones. She is predeceased by her brother, Ted Albert Jones and her sister, Betty Elizabeth Jones. The family will receive friends 2-4 on Sunday, October 6, 2013 at Ridout's Valley Chapel in Homewood.
