

Gerald Ervin Mosley, born October 10, 1939 died July 4, 2013 after struggling many years with C.O.P.D. He was preceded in death by his parents, Libby and Herschel Mosley. He is survived by his wife Diane Schilleci Mosley; daughter: Mary Alice Mosley; son: Jeremy and wife Lindsay Mosley, who gave him his only grandchild Harmon age 16 months; 2 sisters: Anita (Ray) Harkey and Connie Richards; 2 nieces and 1 nephew and several great nieces and nephews. “Uncle Gerald” was always very special to each of them, as he was to every person whose life he touched.
Born in Hattiesburg, MS, Gerald was raised in Pleasant Grove, AL and his adult life was spent in Mountain Brook. He graduated from Hueytown High School in 1958. Shortly thereafter he joined the United States Army where his last assignment was MP Co USAIC Trp Comd, spent mostly in Germany until he was medically discharged.
Gerald’s lifelong passion and livelihood was building houses. He had the uncanny ability of looking at the worst lot and building a masterpiece. He was president and owner of Mosley Homebuilders and Custom Crafted Homes. Gerald began building in the Pleasant Grove area but mostly in Vestavia Hills, Inverness and Mountain Brook. He was a member of the Birmingham Homebuilders Association and participated in the “Parade of Homes” for many years. He won several “First Place Awards” and many sectional awards. He was a great supporter of Mountain Brook High School and in 1996, was honored by the Mtn. Brook Boosters Club for his many Philanthropic contributions to their sports programs. He was a member of The Club, where he and Diane loved to dance and entertain friends. He loved to travel and for many years followed his beloved Crimson Tide to games wherever they played. He also loved the Atlanta Braves. Gerald was a lifelong member of Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church.
The family will receive friends at a reception on Tuesday, July 9th at Ridout’s Valley Chapel in Homewood beginning at 10:00 a.m. with the funeral service following at 12 noon officiated by Rev. Marvin McCormick. Burial will follow at Forest Grove Cemetery in Pleasant Grove.
