

Gordon Wayne Linderman, age 80, passed away on Friday, February 26, 2021. He was born on September 24, 1940, in Decatur, Alabama. He was a graduate of Phillips High School and Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama, and New Orleans Baptist Seminary with a master’s degree in Church Music.
He served as Minister of Music at Fort Johnson Baptist Church, Charleston, SC; Central Baptist Church, Decatur, AL; First Baptist Church, Austell, GA; Sherwood Baptist Church, Albany, GA; Conway First Baptist Church, Conway, AR; and later served at various churches as interim after retirement, his most recent being Vincent First Baptist Church. The last 18 years Wayne was honored to serve many of the families of Jefferson County as a funeral director at Ridout's Valley Chapel and Ridout's Elmwood Chapel.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman Paul Linderman and Virginia Hallmark Linderman, and his step mother, Wylodine Linderman, sister Betty Brandenburg and brother Paul Linderman (Julie Linderman Christensen), and the recent death of his daughter, Lana Linderman Pennington. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Carolyn Harrell Linderman and his daughter Laura Linderman Prater (David) and son Gary Linderman (Rachel); and his beloved grandchildren Sarah Grimsley (Donovon), Ben Prater, Turner Pennington, James Linderman, Nathan Linderman, Jack Linderman, and many cousins, nieces and nephews.
A time of visitation for Mr. Linderman will be held Saturday, March 6, 2021 from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. followed by a service celebrating his life at 11:00 A.M. at The Church at Liberty Park, 12001 Liberty Pkwy, Vestavia Hills, Alabama, 35242 at 11:00 A.M. Everyone is encouraged to wear a mask.
Services will be recorded and posted on the church’s website.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the music or missions ministry at The Church at Liberty Park.
